FARGO FIDDLE CONTEST PRESS RELEASE

The Fourth Annual Fargo Fiddle Contest was Saturday, June 23,2007, at the Red River Valley Fair, West Fargo, ND. Entertainment was provided by two family bands, the Sorensons (West Fargo) and the Hainings (Fergus Falls), fiddlers Loy and Lloyd Larson (Fargo), and yodeler Stew Clayton (Manitou, MB). 15 fiddlers competed for cash prizes provided by the Red River Valley Fair and Master Transmission of West Fargo.

Adult Division -
First Place: Steve Broten (Newfolden, MN)
Second Place: Yoshi Coyle (Fargo)

First Timer – 1st Place Arlen Wahl (Fergus Falls, MN)

Youth Division –
1st Place: Sadie Sorenson (West Fargo, ND)
2nd Place: Grace Haining (Fergus Falls, MN)
3rd Place: Serena Coyle (Fargo, ND)

Junior Division -

First Place: Jadan Sorenson (West Fargo)
Second Place: Duran Vigesaa (West Fargo)

Championship –


1st Place: David Arneson (Fargo)
2nd Place: Winston Simpson (Carman, MB)
3rd Place: Ruth Haining (Fergus Falls)

Also competing were Lia Coyle, Angelana Quanbeck, Jamison Quanbeck (Fargo) and Alex Peppel (Barnesville). Steve Poitras was the contest emcee. Judges were Lloyd Larson, Mary Niehaus and Loy Larson. Ann Schluter, President of the North Dakota Old Time Fiddlers Association, began the contest in 2004 to provide a local contest experience for area fiddlers.
